Food can be consumed to recover HP or MP. It cannot be stored in the player's inventory and is instead consumed immediately when obtained. It does not disappear after a time like hearts or coins, so it can be left on the ground for later consumption. Consuming any food item that recovers health will remove the poison status effect. In 2 player co-op mode, collecting any restorative food item will effect both players, but the player that collected it will receive an extra 20% of it's effect. The Ankh of Life accessory will cause all food items to restore 50% more HP and MP.
